Background Checks
The first step to volunteering is filling out the district background check. The system has changed this year, so everyone may need to create a new login. Make sure you choose John Foster Dulles High School as one of your volunteer campuses so you will be on our list. Booster Board
We also have one opening on the Band Booster Club board. We are looking for a VP of Membership. This volunteer serves as a membership chairperson in charge of keeping and maintaining current membership records and other related activities. They will also solicit volunteers for events and activities, track and report volunteer hours, and share membership/volunteer information as applicable to committee chairs. Please let us know if you are interested in serving in that capacity.
Committee Chairs
We are also looking for several committee chairs. Please let us know if you are interested in chairing one of the committees below:
- Tailgate Meals – Committee Chair will coordinate ordering, picking-up, and serving meals to students for several football games and contest days. Additional volunteers will be solicited to assist with setting up and serving meals at school or contest sites.
- Homecoming Mums – Committee Chair will coordinate several volunteers to construct mums for the senior students. No creativity needed. Usually done in September.
- Lemon and Water Tables – Committee Chair will coordinate volunteers to serve water and lemon slices to students before contest performances.
- UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest Concession – Committee Chair will purchase food, snacks and drinks for concession sales during this two-day contest held in February at DHS. Additional volunteers will be solicited to help sell during shifts.
- UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest Judges/Directors Dining Room – Committee Chair will purchase food and drinks to serve three meals to UIL judges/directors (dinner first night, breakfast and lunch the following day). Total to feed may be 50 plus. Additional volunteers will be solicited to help serve meals during shifts.
- Scholarship Committee – Committee Chair will review scholarship criteria each spring, publicize to all seniors and coordinate volunteers to review applications and make award decisions. Underclassmen parents only.
- Spring Band Banquet – End of the year catered banquet held in the school cafeteria for students and families. Committee Chair will arrange caterer, tickets, decorations, senior recognition, etc. Additional volunteers will be solicited to assist.
- Commemorative Spring Program – Committee Chair will coordinate the sale of family ads, commercial ads, and production of the program to be distributed at the Spring Band Concert in May.
As you can see, it will truly take a village to make this a successful year for our band. Please get involved; the band needs all of us. Please contact Angela at president@dullesbandboosters.
